Cheese Cake

This is a novel entirely set on the upper Westside of Manhattan—on West 86th st between Columbus and Amsterdam. The neighborhood is gentrifying and the Greek coffee shop decides to become an upscale restaurant. They want to make a cheesecake from the oldest written recipe, Cato’s cheesecake recipe from ancient Rome.  It is incomprehensible but they forge ahead and the New York Times praises. Other people on the block try to make a more authentic Cato’s cheesecake. They are all completely different. While land lords are driving people from their homes with higher rents the fight for the best cheesecake goes on. To be published by Bloomsburry.
